Chester Airfield, now known as Perryville Regional Airport, was a primary pilot training facility for the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. The airfield was located in McBride, Missouri, and was named after Chester, Illinois. The United States Army Air Forces built Chester Airfield in 1942 to train aviation cadets who came from all over the country. Our guest speakers will bring you the fascinating details of the challenges in building this facility, and what it was like for the thousands of pilots who trained there in a very short amount of time.
