A 7-foot-long, 3,000-pound triceratops skull dubbed “Shady” has been unearthed in the Badlands of South Dakota.
“It was so exciting … we just didn’t believe it,” said David Schmidt, a geology and environmental science professor at Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri.
“Shady was discovered the summer of 2020. That summer we excavated the very large skull and got started on an adventure that’s still happening! The lead paleontologist is Dr. David Schmidt. David and I (Dr. John Tosi) will both present our prospecting, geology and excavation.”

The presentation on Saturday, September 9 at 1:00 p.m. is free to museum members, otherwise, museum admission will apply.
