SGMLC Unveils Mining Gallery

On Wednesday, October 18th the Sainte Genevieve Museum Learning Center held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Mining Gallery, which is now open to the public. In attendance were the donors who made the addition possible, including representatives from Mississippi Lime Co who sponsored the gallery. Elizabeth Wilkerson of Mississippi Lime cut the ribbon for the event.

The Mining Gallery showcases the history of mining in the state of Missouri. From lead to lime, it shows the resources that were wrested from the ground here and what they were used for. Many tools and artifacts are on display, as well as beautiful samples of the minerals and rocks that were mined in the area.

The mining gallery is now complete and open to the public at the Ste. Genevieve Museum Learning Center, open daily 10am-5pm.
