In 1993, Sainte Genevieve, Missouri experienced a record-breaking flood. From July 1,1993 until August 6, 1993 the Mississippi River crest rose until it reached a maximum height of 49.74 feet. During that summer Sainte Genevieve experienced a natural disaster that cost the community millions of dollars in damages but, through the coordinated efforts of local, state and federal agencies and the assistance of tens of thousands of volunteers every life was preserved. Relive that awe-inspiring summer with the people who were front and center in keeping the flood waters at bay and documenting the river’s historic rise.

Presentation is free to museum members, otherwise admission will apply.
