The Mysterious Life and Death of Meriwether Lewis

Wednesday, May 8th – 7 pm
Orris Theater in Ste. Genevieve
Jesse Francis – Presenter

During the Lewis and Clark Expedition on May 23, 1804, Meriwether Lewis was climbing
the pinnacles of Tavern Rock, a cliff near St. Charles, Missouri, when he slipped.
He was able to grab onto the cliff with his knife and stop his fall, preventing a potentially
dangerous descent.
The incident occurred near a cave called Tavern Cave, where Clark added his name to the graffiti left by earlier travelers.
Hear more tales of this explorer, soldier, politician!

Presentation is free to museum members, otherwise museum admission will apply.
